Garry Kaufman elected president-elect of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas

SAN ANTONIO – Garry Kaufman of Galveston Insurance Associates, Galveston, was elected president-elect of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas for 2007-2008. His term begins Sept. 1.

“Garry has proven his management skill in business and as a director of IIAT. I am confident he will excel as president-elect and I look forward to his valuable contributions as an officer of this association," said Frank Swingle, IIAT incoming president. I eagerly anticipate his contributions.”

After seven years in the pharmaceutical industry, Kaufman moved into the insurance world where he has distinguished himself in a number of areas. He has held leadership positions as a board member of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, and as a member of both the governing committee and board for the Texas Fair Plan Association.

In addition he has established a strong history in sales development and management, Kaufman has been an IIAT director and most recently served on the Windstorm and Catastrophe Response task forces. Kaufman has also represented IIAT as a member of the IIAJC Golf Committee, as a regulatory liaison, as chair of the Agency Management Resources Committee and as a member of the Trusted Choice Advisory Council. He is also an instructor for IIAT’s Producer Development Program. He has served as president of his local insurance association. Kaufman was named Young Agent of the Year in 2003.

He also has served in leadership positions on the governing boards of several community, civic and church organizations including the planning board, chamber of commerce, economic development committee and the Rotary Club among others.
